Ch. Karnchang Plc. (CK) denied a report appeard on pages 1 and 6 of "Krungthep Turakij" (Bangkok Business) newspaper dated Wednesday April 9, 1997, under the headline "CK, BMB's new fund". According to the mentioned report, CK will be a financial supporter for Sitca Investment & Securities Plc. (SITCA) and allies in subscribing to 300 million new shares of Bangkok Metropolitan Bank Plc. (BMB), and CK, itself, may invest in the shares as well. The report says this is another attempt of CK after its failure to win a banking license in cooperation with the War Veterans Organisation of Thailand. CK said this report was groundless, explaining that it did not took part with the War Veterans Organisation of Thailand in seeking approval to set up the new commercial bank.
