Karnchang Public Company Limited, Subsidiaries and Jointly controlled entities for the three-month and six-month period as of June 30, 2008 yields a decrease in profit by 37.5 % and 29.6 % respectively, compared with the operating result from the same respective period of the year 2007 due to the following factors: 1. For the six-month period, the Company's interest income has decreased by Baht 156.1 million. This is due to the adjustment in the first quarter (three-month ended March) of 2007, of a higher retroactive interest rate for loan to subcontractors and loan to other companies 2. In the second quarter of 2008 as the Company's capital had gained on sales of investment in associated company of Baht 278.6 million, which is a decline of total Baht 296.2 million from the gain on sales of investments in associated company of Baht 574.8 million from the same period in 2007. 3. For the three-month ended June 2008, the Company incurs Baht 42.9 million of share of loss from investments in associated companies, while for the same three-month ended period of last year, the Company had share of profit of Baht 8.1 million from the aforesaid investments.
