Karnchang Public Company Limited, Subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities for the three months period ended March 31, 2009 yields an increase in profit by 242.8%, compared with the operating result from the same fiscal year 2008 due to the following factors: 1. The construction projects of the Company have been in progress such as the project of Bang-Sue Education Centre and Environment Preservation Work and Waste Water Treatment System of Bangkok Metropolitan and NN2 Hydroelectric Power Project (Nam Ngum 2) at the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Especially the construction of NN2 Hydroelectric Power Project (Nam Ngum 2) at the Lao People's Democratic Republic from the work contract, has gained the additional income and the higher construction cost compensation. 2. The Company has gained profit from the exchange rate for about 97 million baht in the first quarter of the present year whilst the Company had gained loss for about 48 million baht at the same fiscal year of last year.
