Ref: CK-09-000-L- 0119 August 14, 2009 Subject: Declaration of the Operating Result of the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2009, Compared with the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2008 Attention: President The Stock Exchange of Thailand The operating result of CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited, Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures for the three-month and six-month period ended as of June 30,2009 yields a decrease in profit by 117 % and 10.5 % respectively, compared with the operating result from the same respective period of the year 2008 due to the following factors: 1. For the three-month period of the year 2008, the Company had gained on the sales of investment in associated company of Baht 278.6 million as well as having gained profit from the exchange rate for Baht 114 million. 2. For the six-month period in the second fiscal quarter of the year 2009,the Company had shared of loss from investments in associated companies for Baht 173.5 million. Whilst in the same fiscal year of previous year, the Company had shared of loss from investments in associated companies for Baht 99.6 million. 3. The finance cost for the six-month period of the year 2009 had increased from the year 2008 because of the bonds issuance for Baht 3,900 million during the year 2009.
