Ref: CK-09-000-AFD-(AC)-L-0036 November 16, 2009 Subject: Declaration of the Operating Result of the Third Quarter Ended September 30, 2009, Compared with the Third Quarter Ended September 30, 2008 Attention: President The Stock Exchange of Thailand The operating result of CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited, Subsidiaries and Jointly controlled entities for the three-month and nine-month periods as of September 30, 2009 yields a decrease in profit by 185.7 % and 75.4 % respectively,compared with the operating result from the same respective period of the year 2008 due to the following factors: 1. For the three-month period of year 2008, the Company's interest income has gained on revenue from reversal of provision for loss on investment in joint venture of Baht 408 million. This is due to the decreasing debt burdened of which the Company has to be responsible to the agreement with the partners of the joint venture BBCD as to share this responsibility to such debt burdened of joint-venture according to the resolution of the Board of Directors Meeting No. 3/2008 of which the Company had informed The Stock Exchange of Thailand's letter dated 15 May 2008. 2. Due to the revenue for construction service of the three-month period of year 2009 had been decreased as the most construction projects have been in the end of projects. This therefore enables to be less recognized of income, compared with the same quarter of previous year. 3. For the nine-month period of year 2008, the Company had gained income on sales of investment in one associated company amounted of Baht 278.6 million. Hence, kindly please be informed accordingly.
